Where do the donations go?

Supporter contributions help to fund all Random Acts activities. Donations help to fund Random Acts of Kindness performed by the staff and by outside volunteers.

Certain funds are also earmarked for large campaigns such as Hope 2 Haiti. These funds have helped to provide relief to various organizations in Haiti following the 2010 Earthquake including the construction of the Jacmel Children’s Center and aid to the Art Creation Foundation for Children, two organizations that provide aid and education to the children of Jacmel, Haiti.

Donations also fund additional Random Acts fundraising such as the Semi-Annual Awards for Random Acts (SAARA) and the Annual Melee of Kindess (AMOK).

A small percentage of your donations also cover our administrative costs, both recurring and one-off, but we will always try to keep these as low as possible. We are staffed 100% by volunteers, and we don’t have any physical office space to rent or maintain – however we do have some recurring costs associated with running this website, as well as our PO Box rental, postage, and incentive items, to name a few examples. Some of our donation processors, such as PayPal or Crowdrise, also take a small fee.

Your donations help

Donations from supporters like you recently helped a Los Angeles couple caring for a child in the advanced stages of cancer who were unable to pay for continued repairs to their old car. This couple was brought to our attention by a member of our Board of Directors in Spring 2012. They could not afford to purchase a new car but, thanks to our donors, we were able to step in to help by purchasing a used car to replace the old one.
