Kindness breeds kindness. Celebrate your acts of kindness and win money for a charity of your choice as well as exclusive Random Acts swag.

Semi-Annual Awards for Random Acts. If you know of a person or group in your local community who has done something particularly kind for others, nominate them for a SAARA award!
The latest round of SAARA took place in October 2012. For more information on the winners, click here.
Twice a year we give out SAARA awards to the charity, or charities, of the winners’ choosing.
In addition to the monetary award, all participants for the award-winning acts (this includes both the winner and the person nominating them) will be given some special Random Acts swag, and a certificate signed by Misha Collins.
The winning acts will also have a shiny page on our website so all can see and marvel at what wonderful people you are.
In general, we are looking for acts that show particular thoughtfulness and kindness to strangers. Small or large, we recognize the thoughtfulness it takes to notice the needs of others and do something to make their lives better. A bus driver who gives his shoes to a homeless person, a high school girl who saves up money from her after-school job to buy an elderly neighbor a walker. It’s the thought that counts, and it’s the acts that are the most thoughtful that we reward. Whether you carry out the act yourself, or whether you nominate someone for their act, everyone is eligible.
Those acts which score highly, but fall outside of the main prizes, will be put up to a public vote. Whichever act gets the most votes will win the SAARA Smiles award.
Any classroom, grade level(s), sanctioned school group (Choral Society for instance) or the entire school can perform a random act of kindness in their community. If your class, grade, group or entire school wins the SAARA Class Act award, your school or a nominated charity will receive $3000 and a certificate from Random Acts as well as some Random Acts swag (if your group is 5 people or less).
Please note that in order to be nominated for the Class Act award all participants must be aged 18 or under and in full-time education.
‘Unexpected Mayhem’ is a staff choice award which will be given to an act based on its whimsy and delight. Particularly beautiful, surprising and playful acts will win this award!
We have a set of guidelines and forms for nominations. For more details, check out the Nominations page.
