Annual Melee of Kindness

Get ready to run AMOK and perform acts of kindness in your local community.

What is AMOK?

AMOK stands for the Annual Melee of Kindness – it’s a global day of kindness! No matter who you are or where you are in the world, we are inviting you to spend one day in March performing kind deeds for people in your local area or community. This year AMOK will take place on Sunday 10 March 2013.

Sounds fun! What do I need to do?

Put your thinking caps on. We’re encouraging people to go out into their local communities and perform kind acts for those in need. This can range from the simple such as cooking a meal for a family in need, through to the more extravagant such as putting on a play for the kids in your local hospital. The important thing is we want to try and spend the day having a positive and meaningful impact on people’s lives.

AMOK 2012

We had an astounding response to AMOK 2012 with 393 participants, 122 acts performed and 19 countries involved.

This sounds like a great idea! What do I need to do?

All you need to do is fill in this form to register your act and let us know what awesome thing you plan to do (don’t worry if you change your mind before the day and do something else —the form is just so we know you’re taking part). Then, once AMOK is over, you just need to go here to share all the awesome video and/or photos of you in action.

Please note: Children under the age of 18 require the consent of a parent or legal guardian to participate in all Random Acts sponsored events and to volunteer with Random Acts.

Anything else?

As well as AMOK we have SAARA which allows you to enter your act for consideration for an award. Simply click the above link once your act is completed to find full details on how to submit your act.

I have a really cool idea but I can’t afford to do it. Can you help?

You can apply for funding for your act by filling in this form. Note that you will need to provide receipts/proof of purchase for any expenses you accrue.

Is anything not allowed?

When you sign up we will ask you to confirm that you have read and agreed to our terms and conditions. Basically you have to confirm that what you’re going to do is legal, ethical and honest. In the fancy legal terms we’re required to use, that means:

  1. Applicant agrees to maintain all necessary licenses, permits and approvals, and to conduct its business in compliance with all applicable local, state, federal and national regulations.
  2. The Applicant shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless Random Acts, its directors, officers, members, agents and employees against any and all demands, claims, actions or causes of action, liability, loss, damage or expense.
  3. Applicant shall defend, indemnify and hold Random Acts; its members, officers, directors, employees and agents harmless against all claims, demands, obligations or liabilities of any nature whatsoever.

There’s something I’m still not sure about…

Not a problem. If you have any further queries or need any further assistance you can get in touch by emailing events@therandomact.org
